NOBODY BUT YOU

This album was recorded with a USB microphone and an acoustic guitar (I sometimes converted to electric.) I have since upped my game tech wise with a proper interface and better instruments, but I still have a soft spot for these early recordings when I was just starting to write songs. There's a willingness to try anything, an urgency to the chord progressions, and a desire for sonic hooks despite the lo-fi primitive tech. I've thought about re-recording them with my new gear but I'd rather move forward and not worry about doing Taylor versions of old material. The rough edges are unique to these recordings and I'd rather just let them breathe, warts and all. The lyrics describe post-apocalyptic isolation with tongue-in-cheek. And the sound varies from acoustic indie rock to airy introspective beats. These songs span ten years, including the first song I ever wrote on guitar and recorded with my phone - "From the Cold" - Matt Stratton Ronzani
